26" PRISTINE HANDWERCK/SIMON & HALBIG

Uncommonly beautiful and in pristine, unplayed-with condition, she has no mold number but resembles the elusive & desirable Handwerck 69 mold.  Exceptionally pure, slightly "oily" pale bisque, perfect blush, "first-out-of-the-mold" facial modelling, almond-shaped cornflower blue sleep eyes, molded, feathered brows, o/m with upper teeth, shaded & accented lips, pcd. ears with crystal wire earrings.  Fine, original light brown mohair wig & orig. cardboard pate; her hair is face-framing & matches her brows perfectly.  Orig. jointed, fully-signed Handwerck body in pristine condition in the orig. patina.  Orig. two-piece undergarment set consists of frilly, lace-edged pantaloons & a full slip.  She retains her original black leather heeled boots with side-buttons.  Magnificent, early navy serge dress with tight sleeves, vertically-pleated, ruched bodice in the 1890s manner, nipped-in waistline above full skirt.  A row of tiny mother-of-pearl buttons march up the back of the dress.  Layers of antique cream lace are layered & further ornamented with millinery trims to form her delicate headpiece.  A truly bewitching doll full of charm and grace; exceptional condition. 20" SCARCE KESTNER 161 BOY

Captivating little Kestner boy with a wonderfully-expressive face, looking like he is full of boyish questions!  A very scarce mold number & a delight to come across, is this example of a young Victorian or Edwardian boy.  Fully-signed head with orig. plaster pate, fine-quality antique blonde mohair wig, luscious creamy, flawless bisque displaying "first-out-of-the-mold" modelling.  Flat, feathered brows arch above blue/gray spiral-threaded sleep eyes with lushly-ptd. upper & lower lashes.  Full cheeks with o/m & four upper teeth, & chin dimple, add to his beauty & boyish charm.  Orig. jtd. comp. signed Kestner body in the orig. shiny patina in very fine cond. with some old repair/touch-up to ball joints; someone also painted his fingernails which probably does not make him happy but should be easy to remove; I can do this if desired.  He is costumed appropriately in a charming two-piece cotton plaid suit with vertical grosgrain ribbon detail consisting of a jacket with long, slightly-puffed sleeves over matching knickers.  He wears antique undergarment underneath his trousers, & has black cotton ribbed socks & replaced black leather tie shoes.  Atop his head he wears a jaunty antique/vintage velvet cap with curled black ostrich feather.  A fantastic boy doll to add to your collection; he has a wonderful face & is a cute package! 26" EARLY ALL-ORIGINAL, GLASS-EYED PAPIER MACHE BABY (WITH EARLY WOODEN 1850s CRADLE)

Beautifully-preserved, this early & unusual papier mache infant is totally original & untouched.  Rare, large example in great cond. with no touch-up or repaint (just the smallest wear to the nose tip & some normal, expected agewear in such an early doll of this type).  A soft, gentle wash of colouring enhances the baby's complexion; carefully-feathered brows arch over large, spiral-threaded blue glass eyes surrounded by ptd. lashes, & closed mouth is formed into full, baby lips.  Soft blonde human hair wig with fringe of bangs showing from underneath orig. velvet, lace, & silk-trimmed bonnet.  Orig. hard-stuffed cloth body, leather arms with individually-stitched & separated fingers, sewn-on red & white striped stockings with sewn-on leather booties.  Layers of orig. infant clothing, incl. a long cream flannel petticoat with feather-stitching.  Christening gown is ornately ruched down the entire length of the front, & embellished with ornate hand-embroidery.  The ends of the sleeves have been stained by contact with the doll's leather arms, but I have not tried to wash the garments because the doll is so perfect & beautifully-preserved.  However, if the new owner would like me to wash the garments rather than leaving them as they are, I would be happy to do so & am knowledgeable about cleaning antique fabrics & costume.  A rare, early treasure with a precious face!  She comes complete with her wonderful antique handmade wooden cradle complete with the orig. bedding which is perfect for displaying her in.
