20" RARE, EARLY PINK-TINT
BROWN-EYED CHINA WITH PAINTED LASHES
Highly-sought & coveted, this
desirable, early 1850s china is super
rare & absolutely breathtaking!
Glorious pink-tint, exquisite
modelling of gentle, patrician
features, deeply-molded shoulderplate,
expertly-painted facial
features enhance warm brown, accented
eyes with molded lid & red lid lines,
lavish, minutely-feathered brown
eyebrows & upper and lower lashes.
Slight smile with red lip line &
perfectly-tinted cheeks. Molded & ptd. covered
wagon hairstyle with deep center part
& vertical curls (some expected wear
to back of hair). Exceptional, orig.
kid body is stitch-jointed so she may
sit or stand, hands have
individually-stitched & separated
fingers; body is in very fine
condition. Costume comprises antique
petticoat with eyelet trim, antq.
lace-trimmed pantaloons, antq.
black silk stockings, & her fabulous
original, red-orange windowpane plaid
cotton daydress with portrait collar,
fitted bodice, & long, full sleeves in
the fashion of her day. Very rare
china & almost impossible to find, she

26" PRISTINE HANDWERCK/SIMON & HALBIG
Uncommonly beautiful and in pristine, unplayed-with
condition, she has no mold number but
resembles the elusive & desirable Handwerck 69
mold. Exceptionally pure, slightly "oily"
pale bisque, perfect blush,
"first-out-of-the-mold" facial modelling,
almond-shaped cornflower blue sleep eyes,
molded, feathered brows, o/m with upper teeth,
shaded & accented lips, pcd. ears with crystal
wire earrings. Fine, original light brown
mohair wig & orig. cardboard pate; her hair is
face-framing & matches her brows perfectly.
Orig. jointed, fully-signed Handwerck body in
pristine condition in the orig. patina. Orig.
two-piece undergarment set consists of frilly,
lace-edged pantaloons & a full slip. She
retains her original black leather heeled
boots with side-buttons. Magnificent, early
navy serge dress with tight sleeves,
vertically-pleated, ruched bodice in the 1890s
manner, nipped-in waistline above full skirt.
A row of tiny mother-of-pearl buttons march
up the back of the dress. Layers of antique
cream lace are layered & further ornamented
with millinery trims to form her delicate
headpiece. A truly bewitching doll full of
charm and grace; exceptional condition.

20" SCARCE KESTNER 161 BOY
Captivating little Kestner boy with
a wonderfully-expressive face,
looking like he is full of boyish
questions! A very scarce mold
number & a delight to come across,
is this example of a young Victorian
or Edwardian boy. Fully-signed head
with orig. plaster pate,
fine-quality antique blonde mohair
wig, luscious creamy, flawless
bisque displaying
"first-out-of-the-mold" modelling.
Flat, feathered brows arch above
blue/gray spiral-threaded sleep eyes
with lushly-ptd. upper & lower
lashes. Full cheeks with o/m & four
upper teeth, & chin dimple, add to
his beauty & boyish charm. Orig.
jtd. comp. signed Kestner body in
the orig. shiny patina in very fine cond.
with some old repair/touch-up to
ball joints; someone also painted
his fingernails which probably does
not make him happy but should be
easy to remove; I can do this if
desired. He is costumed
appropriately in a charming
two-piece cotton plaid suit with
vertical grosgrain ribbon
detail consisting of a jacket with
long, slightly-puffed sleeves over
matching knickers. He wears antique
undergarment underneath his
trousers, & has black cotton ribbed
socks & replaced black leather tie
shoes. Atop his head he wears a
jaunty antique/vintage velvet cap
with curled black ostrich feather.
A fantastic boy doll to add to your
collection; he has a wonderful face

26" EARLY ALL-ORIGINAL,
GLASS-EYED PAPIER MACHE BABY (WITH
EARLY WOODEN 1850s CRADLE)
Beautifully-preserved, this early
& unusual papier mache infant is
totally original & untouched.
Rare, large example in great cond.
with no touch-up or repaint (just
the smallest wear to the nose tip
& some normal, expected agewear in
such an early doll of this type).
A soft, gentle wash of colouring
enhances the baby's complexion;
carefully-feathered brows arch
over large, spiral-threaded blue
glass eyes surrounded by ptd.
lashes, & closed mouth is
formed into full, baby lips.
Soft blonde human hair wig with
fringe of bangs showing from
underneath orig. velvet, lace, &
silk-trimmed bonnet.
Orig. hard-stuffed cloth body,
leather arms with
individually-stitched & separated
fingers, sewn-on red & white
striped stockings with sewn-on
leather booties. Layers of orig.
infant clothing, incl. a long
cream flannel petticoat with
feather-stitching. Christening
gown is ornately ruched down the
entire length of the front,
& embellished with
ornate hand-embroidery. The ends
of the sleeves have been stained
by contact with the doll's leather
arms, but I have not tried to wash
the garments because the doll is
so perfect &
beautifully-preserved. However,
if the new owner would like me to
wash the garments rather than
leaving them as they are, I would
be happy to do so & am
knowledgeable about cleaning
antique fabrics & costume. A
rare, early treasure with a
precious face! She comes complete
with her wonderful
antique handmade wooden
cradle complete with the orig.
bedding which is perfect for

25" SCHOENAU & HOFFMEISTER 5800
This uncommonly beautiful model 5800 by
SPBH has a face full of sweetness
tempered by an expression of realism
that gives her an almost character look;
very appealing! Bisque is high-quality,
smooth and even, with just the right
hint of colour. Blue sleep eyes, ptd.
lower lashes, o/m with upper teeth,
prominent chin dimple & fine modelling.
Nicely-shaped ears are not pierced. She
retains her orig. cardboard pate & wears
a vintage honey-coloured human hair wig
in thickly-clustered shoulder-length
curls; the wig retaining the orig. set.
Orig. jointed comp. body in very fine cond. in
the orig. finish. Costume comprises
antique petticoat & chemise, white
cotton socks, antq. black leather shoes,
& a particularly lovely, crisp white
pique dress with Empire waist. The
fitted bodice is decorated with pretty
openwork, white-on-white embroidery &
ruffled neckline. As the full skirt of
the dress fans out, it features diagonal
embroidery with lavish openwork,
braiding resembling soutache, & eyelet
at the hemline. Completing her
ensemble, her bonnet is a beauty---white
sheer cotton, wired & ruched in layer
upon layer with a beautiful bouquet of
antique millinery daisies, leaves, &
pink satin ribbon to decorate the
underside of the brim. A beautiful
German doll, display-ready with a
wonderful presence!
