23" PIEROTTI-TYPE EARLY
ENGLISH POURED WAX
One of the most ethereal early
1850s English poured wax dolls I
have ever had the pleasure to
own, with the most realistic
colouring, resembling
translucent skin, & lustrous,
watery-blue spiral-threaded
glass eyes that look right
through you. Highest quality &
modelling, she has been spared
no attention to her beauty;
individually inset blonde hair
is still thick with bangs &
wispy curls wind along her nape;
her brows are soft &
well-arched, cheeks are full &
soft to represent a young girl &
her mouth is gently pinked in
colour. Ears are realistically
molded; her graceful neck rounds
to a modelled shoulderplate.
Orig. cloth body with orig.
English store sticker intact,
she is likely a Pierotti.
Perfect poured wax lower limbs
display finest detail in
delineating fingers & toes
realistically. Costume consists
of three matching layers of
orig. cotton lawn
undergarments---chemisette,
chemise, & drawstring
pantaloons, openwork stockings &
later, vintage cream leather
shoes. Attired in her original
cream silk costume in the manner
of young children's clothing of
the 1850s-60s with low,
lace-trimmed neckline, fitted
waist, & full, tiered skirt. A
period blue organdy wired bonnet
with the orig. ribbon & floral
millinery trims frames her face
& beautifully enhances & matches
her vivid blue eyes. An antique
turquoise beaded necklace with
crucifix adds to her value &
beauty. An unbelievably lovely
example of the poured wax
doll's ability to captivate &
charm. Perfect condition & over
150 years old. You'll want to
keep her forever!
