ORIGINAL 1850s-60s SILK CHILD'S BONNET

Gorgeous, early child's Civil War period wire frame bonnet in cream silk with the orig. trims!  A rare bonnet of elaborately ruched & pleated silk decorated with fine net, clusters of cream silk ribbons, pale peach muslin flowers & cream chenille accents.  Chenille twists decorate the underside of the bonnet, to beautifully frame the face(some floral trims missing), & the cream silk curtain at the back of the bonnet is artfully-draped & includes a row of fine cream net insertion.  Cream silk chin ties are missing but could easily be replaced. Outer measurements are 8" wide by 9" tall & this bonnet looks lovely on a bisque child doll about 29-33" tall.  Rarely-found in this condition or as lavishly-appointed, this millinery confection is worthy of the finest collection of historic fashion, or to enhance the costume of a large antique doll. You may click on the picture for different views of the item. Price $275.

9 1/2" VINTAGE STEIFF BUNNY RABBIT

This cute little fellow is a desirable earlier Steiff standing rabbit with long, floppy ears, retaining his Steiff button in ear (see photo) with a swivel neck.  He is straw-stuffed with a shaded tan/light brown mohair coat with darker mohair tipping his ears, standing on his hind feet with his front paws resting on his haunches.  He has a little stubby tail & large hind feet.  Large brown eyes, soft pink velvet open mouth, pink floss nose, & whiskers.  He retains his original salmon-coloured neck ribbon.  In very good, clean, sturdy condition with very minor wear to mohair, mostly on his back side & upper front paws.  Cute little bunny is full of charm & a nice addition to a Steiff or Easter collection or as an excellent companion for large dolls to hold. You may click on the picture for different views of the item. Price $179.

LAVISH SILK & HAND-EMBROIDERED CREAM SILK BABY/DOLL BONNET

This bonnet is an absolute confection!  No lack of elegant detail was denied this bonnet!  Fashioned of cream silk, it is fully-lined & entirely hand-embroidered with complex vines, flowers, & leaves; delicate cream silk & a very pale beige silk is deeply ruched & encircles the bonnet where it frames the face, as well as leaving a delicate "curtain" at the back.  On each side by the ears, there are elaborate rosettes fashioned of a profusion of gathered silk ribbons created to be the center of each rosette; the outer area of the rosette is more of the same delicate cream & pale beige silk, ruched & folded to resemble the petals of the rose.  Orig. silk ribbon ties are present, & the bonnet is in pristine condition.  It would look lovely on a large baby or child doll with a head circumference of about 15"-16".  A true millinery masterpiece, worthy of the sweetest baby doll or the most valuable French bebe. You may click on the picture for different views of the item. Price $385.

ANTIQUE LILAC WOOL DOLL'S COAT, FUR COLLAR & MATCHING FUR MUFF

Fantastic set features a mint cond. lilac wool doll's coat, fully-lined, with a sailor-type collar of fur (collar also lined but underneath silk lining is melting) & orig. gold button front closures.  The coat is roomy enough for chunky French jtd. comp. bodies so could be worn by either French or German dolls.  Lovely colour with no fading; few scattered moth pinprick holes on back of coat & faint smudge of light colour on back which will probably come out with cleaning. The fur collar is detachable.  The muff is also silk-lined & ornamented with a gilt metal bow.  It measures 15" long from neckline to hem & would best fit a doll 23-26" tall.  High-quality set would also make a lovely & suitable outfit for German character children. You may click on the picture for different views of the item. Price $295.

VINTAGE PORTRAIT MINIATURE-TYPE PENDANT FOR LARGE DOLLS

This pretty pendant was made to resemble the portrait miniatures that were originally made of oil or watercolour on glass, ivory, or gouache in the 18th & 19th centuries.  This vintage pendant has some age to it, is nice quality, & would look very appropriate on a large antique doll.  The woman's portrait is encased in an oval gold-plated frame measuring 2" tall by 1 1/2" wide.  A gold metal fleur-di-lys clasp suspends the pendant from a thin brown velvet ribbon to be tied and worn around your dolls' neck as a choker.  For dolls about 30" up, it looks dramatic in the appropriate antique style. You may click on the picture for different views of the item. Price $25.

VINTAGE STEIFF "PICCY" DUCK

Piccy the duck, in excellent, unplayed-with condition, retaining his Steiff button & both tags.  Button is attached to one wing along with yellow tag numbering 3242/11, & stating "original Steiff, made in Germany".  This particular duck was made during the years 1978-1983.  At his chest he retains the round red/yellow Steiff tag with his name, "Piccy".  Beautiful yellow fuzzy fur coat, bright orange beak & black plastic button eyes.  He is clean & bright with no fading or wear.  From beak to tail he is 6" long & 4" tall.   Another choice "pet" for your antique dolls to hold. EARLY LILAC STRIPED DRESS FOR POUPEE, POURED WAX OR PAPIER MACHE

One of my favourite dresses, it is beautifully-made & preserved; the fabric is just exquisite & makes for an extremely rich-looking dress.  Circa 1850s-60s, it features garment construction typical of costume from that era.  Fully-lined dress with fitted bodice & 3/4 length sleeves; full skirt with elaborate cartridge pleating at the waist.  Appears to be expertly & completely handsewn.  Bodice is lined with fine muslin & has diagonal front darts as seen on costumes of the period.  Lace-trimmed sleeves & scoop neckline; full skirt lined with cream polished cotton.  A small, prob. period patch made to the back of the dress is hidden in the voluminous folds of the skirt. Some scattered, pindot areas of agewear; hook-&-eye closures.  Altogether a fantastic, beautifully-preserved early dress. Measurements with dress lying flat are:  15" shoulder to hem, 4" across shl to shl, approx. 8" circum. waistline; skirt itself is 9" long measured from waistband to hem.  It looked and fit perfectly on a 23" English poued wax I had here, as the style & cut lends it well to accommodate the earlier dolls with the narrower waistlines.  A superb dress!
